Lawyers for John 'Kostka' Chute apply for permanent stay on sex abuse charges

Former Marist brother John 'Kostka' Chute may never face a hearing on historical sex abuse charges from his time in Canberra, after his lawyers on Thursday applied for a permanent stay of the case.
The former brother is charged with 16 sex offences allegedly committed against six children in the 1970s and 1980s. He has been found unfit to plead and was to face a special hearing in December under Canberra's mental health laws
