Catholic priest commits suicide amid child sex probe after being told to 'leave town'

A CATHOLIC priest accused of sexually assaulting a child has killed himself. Pierre-Yves Fumery, 38, was found hanged in his own church, in Gien, France. His body was reported found in his room in the presbytery — which was attached to the church — by other priests. He was questioned earlier this month by police in a sexual assault probe involving a child under the age of 15. Fumery had not been formally charged but was under investigation because of reports from the community about his behaviour, the prosecutor's office said.
