The Catholic Diocese of Owensboro announced Monday that it received 66 sexual abuse allegations against 27 of its priests since 1937, including four allegations since 2002, when a new U.S. program was launched to address sexual abuse in the church. A news release dated Monday stated the diocese had recently compiled statistics regarding sexual abuse allegations against diocese priests and regarding those individuals who identified themselves as victims of child sexual abuse.
