Hundreds could face charges: McClellan

Police are investigating 1067 matters that could lead to the prosecution of child sex abuse offenders, the chair of the royal commission Peter McClellan says.  Many of the referrals to police came from information given to the commission during 5000 private sessions held with abuse survivors.
Justice McClellan told a Legal Aid NSW Criminal Law Conference on Thursday the commission had enough information to investigate more than 1000 institutions but would only be able to look at between about 50-60 before the public hearings end in early 2017.
