There needs to be a Royal Commission inquiry in New Zealand for child abuse and child rape in the catholic church orphanages, state homes, institutions, babies taken away from their mothers and sold by church and state, all religious homes, orphanages. and not forgetting the children, the young men and women at Lake Alice who were tortured, electrocuted and being used as guinea pigs for different medication. All of this is why I have called for a New Zealand Royal Commission Inquiry into Child Abuse and Child Rape which should be across the board where ever children were incarcerated.

Salvation Army and non-religious homes and orphanages throughout New Zealand. Child abuse has gone on far too long and we will only see how much damage it causes with a full inquiry run by A Royal Commission inquiry into Child Abuse.

Senior lawyer Aileen McColgan 'quits child sex abuse Inquiry'

Aileen McColgan has reportedly quit the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse. It is understood the senior lawyer resigned from the investigation due to concerns over its leadership, according to BBC2's Newsnight.
An inquiry spokeswoman did not confirm or deny her departure. She said: "We have a large legal team comprising a number of junior counsel, senior counsel and solicitors.

Modern slavery victim Sandra says she was 'controlled 'and 'scared' of her employers

A group of Australian religious leaders is launching the Australian Freedom Network today in Canberra to develop practical solutions to free people living enslaved in Australia.
Today is the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, and as a former victim of modern day slavery, Sandra was chosen to present her story at the launch. " I am so pleased to be here as living proof that slavery happens in Australia," she told AM.

A chaplain has been arraigned on charges that he sexually abused three teenage boys. The news comes as the Catholic Church attempts to deal with the growing number of sexual abuse cases around the world.
A Catholic priest in the largely Catholic country was officially accused on Wednesday of sexually abusing three teenage boys between 2010 and 2013. The 44-year-old, Donald Bellizzi, the current chaplain of the airport chapel, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court rejected his lawyer's request for bail.

Suit alleging second sexual assault victim of ex-Haverhill priest announced in front of church

The president of a nonprofit agency providing services to victims of sexual abuse was in Haverhill late Thursday morning to publicly announce details of a civil lawsuit filed on behalf of a woman who, as a child, was allegedly sexually assaulted by a former priest at All Saints Church.
Robert Hoatson, co-founder and president of Road to Recovery Inc., stood on the sidewalk outside All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., next to a Methuen man who said he is building up the courage to publicly announce he was the victim of sexual abuse by a priest as well.

The South Australian Government was aware of allegations of physical and sexual abuse at a Salvation Army-run boys' home from as early as the 1940s, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has heard.

The commission is examining four Salvation Army-run children's homes in South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.

Man Who Helped Kill Thousands of Native Americans to Be Made a Saint by Pope Francis Today

Pope Francis landed in Washington, D.C., Tuesday to commence a six-day tour of the United States. Junipero Serra landed in San Diego, California in 1769 on a mission from Spain, to commence construction on the first of 21 Catholic missions in the state. 

Through his directive, the Spaniards built the missions throughout California, plundering the land of its indigenous people and killing thousands of them. By 1900, 131 years after Serra's arrival, almost 95% of California's indigenous population had been decimated — down to 16,000 people from over 300,000. On Wednesday, Pope Francis will make Junipero Serra a saint. Naturally, some indigenous Californians are not happy about it.

Former St. Margaret Mary priest being returned to Louisville from Florida

U.S. Marshals are bringing a priest back to Louisville after he was arrested in Florida. Father Stephen Pohl resigned from St. Margaret Mary last week, and was arrested in Florida on Friday. He has pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges.
Authorities say they found evidence that Pohl looked at images of naked children between the ages of 6 and 16 on two work computers. He is also accused of taking pictures of students in provocative poses, but those children were fully clothed.

Child rapist jailed for 12 years NZ

A man who raped three girls has been jailed for 12 years. Steven Colin Smith, aged in his mid 40s, pleaded guilty to five counts of rape, two of sexual violation and three of indecent assault the day his High Court trial was due to start in Rotorua on August 3.
In 1989, he raped a 15-year-old girl in the shower when he was aged 19 or 20, as she screamed and tried to push him off.

"Facts are more important than ideas" is a statement from Pope Francis that one would have never heard from Popes Benedict XVI or John Paul II.

Polish bishops condemn IVF law, warn Catholics to not use process

Poland's Catholic bishops condemned a law allowing state funding for in vitro fertilization, which was signed into law Wednesday by outgoing President Bronislaw Komorowski despite a seven-year church campaign to block it.
"As with abortion, Catholics cannot use in vitro -- among other reasons because the cost of the birth of a single human person is the destruction of other unborn children," the bishops' conference said.

Survivors of Ireland’s hellish Mother and Baby Homes are facing a €500,000 legal bill in their battle for compensation. Unlike the Commission on Child Abuse in 2002, victims will not be provided with free legal advice.
The previous inquiry racked up more than €55million in lawyers’ bills but survivors were not asked to pay. Support groups, already unhappy with the terms of reference for the probe, say this is another obstacle to justice.

Parents' anger at Sydney Archbishop's note sent home with Catholic schoolchildren

A letter that's been taken home by Catholic school kids in Sydney in an attempt to put parents' minds at ease as the on-going Royal Commission into sex child abuse inquiry continues this week has not got the positive response the church hoped for.       

Called ‘Speaking the Truth in Love’ it is written by the Archbishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher and is also published on the Archdiocese of Sydney website. The letter refers to the disturbing evidence emerging from the inquiry in Ballarat in recent weeks.

Two teens allegedly raped by more than 60 men in pedophile gang

Two school girls claim they have been raped by at least 60 men who were part of a horrific pedophile grooming gang. The Mirror reports 11 Asian men face criminal charges after the girls came forward.
The girls, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, claimed they were raped while aged between 12 and 16.

Letter: Rethinking commitment to Catholic Church

As a result of the past six months regarding the demolition of the Mackey Funeral Home, I am seriously considering leaving the Catholic Church. In all my 65 years, even through the clergy sex abuse scandals, 
I did not abandon the church. What makes me want to leave now is the arrogance and recalcitrance I have encountered from the parish and the archdiocese in refusing to compromise on the issue of the parking lot.
