Two school pictures floated side-by-side on a projection screen in the Michigan courtroom. Both images caught the same small girl — in one, all gawky smile and bangs; the next, braces and long hair — a few years apart. Until this week, the child in the snapshots had been officially identified only as “Victim Z.A.” or “a family friend.” But on Tuesday, Kyle Stephens, now a young woman, stepped out from the curtain of anonymity to directly address disgraced USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar before a judge in Lansing.

Pensioner in poverty: Life in a caravan

Lynette Haines, 69, is single and doesn't own a home - she receives $390 a week through superannuation.
The cheapest liveable rentals available in Tauranga cost around $300 a week, which Ms Haines said would leave her just $90 for essentials, healthcare, and food. She instead lives in a 3.3 metre caravan - just long enough for an average man to lie down arms stretched overhead - at a campground for $154 a week.

The 16-year-old Suing the US Government

This Inspiring Young Man is Making a Stand For Our Planet. A small child stood up on stage at a rally and started speaking passionately about the environment. The six-year-old told the crowd: “I shouldn’t be standing up here. It should be the adults that are protecting the planet. But they’re not, so I’m up here.”

Fast forward to a decade later and the same Colorado boy, now a young teen, has launched an astounding lawsuit, where he is holding the US administration accountable for a reckless lack of action over climate change.

Tens of thousands sign petition to strip Brian Tamaki's Destiny Church of tax free status

No mater where you live in the world, PLEASE sign this petition this man is very evil,  he get the people to put their money on the ground as he walks past them, while he has some one picking it up as they go along. A petition to strip Brian Tamaki's Destiny Church of its "tax-free status" after he blamed earthquakes on gay people and sinners has snowballed, reaching more than 35,000 signatures in less than 20 hours.

Aaron Smithson, from Auckland, started the petition to reclassify the church as a hate group after Tamaki's comments were revealed in a video shared to the organisation's Facebook page.

Three hundred accounts of mental health failings

The release of the personal stories of 300 mental health patients, their families and workers show New Zealand's mental health system is in crisis, a mental health activist says.
Mental health activist group People's Review is campaigning for a government-backed national review of mental health services.
The campaign's director, Laura Rapira, told Nine To Noon the submissions showed the mental health system was in crisis.
"Our submissions are beginning to paint a picture of long wait times ... of services stretched to breaking point, of families' fear and frustration when their loved ones are at risk, and of professionals exhausted and burned out," Ms Rapira said.

Before he took his own life, Daniel Fitzpatrick, taunted and bullied, wrote a final, heartbreaking letter lamenting that nearly no one tried to help him.
The 13-year-old Staten Island boy, mercilessly badgered over his weight, grades and his innocent heart, pleaded to his school for help.  But teacher after teacher at Holy Angels Catholic Academy — the principal, too — turned a deaf ear, refusing to intervene, he said in the letter that was never sent.
