Last year, an Australian commission found that the Jehovah’s Witnesses were turning a blind eye to serious problems within their ranks. The Royal Commission’s report said kids were not “adequately protected from the risk of sexual abuse” in the organization.
And just last month, in Canada, a $66 million class action lawsuit was filed against the Witnesses by victims who said the religious group not only failed to prevent abuse but didn’t do much even after it was reported.

Corey Feldman fears for safety after revealing Hollywood paedophile documentary plans

US actor Corey Feldman is convinced his recent clash with police is connected to threats he is receiving for pursuing a documentary about Hollywood paedophiles. The Goonies star, who rose to fame as a child in the 1980s, was fined in Louisiana for possession of medical marijuana on Saturday (Sunday NZ Time) after he and his Corey Feldman & The Angels bandmates were stopped by police.
Feldman believes the traffic stop is linked to his intentions to expose prominent members of the entertainment industry, who he alleges sexually assaulted the actor and his late friend Corey Haim while they were child stars in Hollywood, in a new film.

If any good is coming from the Harvey Weinstein affair, it’s that a light is being shined, albeit briefly, on a far greater Hollywood scandal: the sexual abuse of young actors. If it sounds as if I speak of it as “an open secret,” it’s because that’s precisely what it is, as an excellent documentary by that name illustrates most convincingly.

Girl 2: Night after night she heard the beatings through the wall of her bedroom and by 15 she was dead by suicide.
Girl 3: She was raped at 14 and by 15 she was dead by suicide.

The Ann Lovett letters: sorrow, shame, anger and indignation

Why are the boys and men never mentioned... the blame is not only put wholly onto the mother... the baby carries the shame and blame... of the sins of both the mother... as well as their own sins... they are told time and time again... about their mother... while the father has a free life ahead of him... and some just keep on having sex... with young innocent girls...

From the archive: Thirty three years ago, a 15-year-old girl in Granard, Co Longford, died giving birth in secret. Here are letters written in response that were read on the ‘Gay Byrne Show’ in 1984

 As Gay Byrne said on his programme, just over two weeks after the Ann Lovett story broke, there were “too many letters. They couldn’t be ignored.” The schoolgirl was 15, when she was found in shock and close to death, having given birth to a baby boy at the grotto on a hill just outside her home town of Granard, Co Longford. Her son was dead by the time passersby discovered her, and Ann died later that day in hospital.

Electroshock Therapy for Internet Addicts? China Vows to End It

HONG KONG — At the Addiction Treatment Center in eastern China, more than 6,000 internet addicts — most of them teenagers — not only had their web access taken away, they were also treated with electroshock therapy.

The center, in Shandong Province, made headlines in September after one of its patients killed her mother in retribution for abuse she had purportedly suffered at the camp during a forced detox regimen.

“Facts – not ideology – determine reality,” the American College of Pediatricians (ACP) said in a warning to legislators and educators about the dangers of surgical and medical sex change operations to children.
“Conditioning children into believing that a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse,” the physicians said, “Rates of suicide are twenty times greater among adults who use cross-sex hormones and undergo sex reassignment surgery, even in Sweden which is among the most LGBTQ – affirming countries.”

Surprise, surprise. The Catholic Church has tried to shape the sexual mores of this country's people for hundreds of years. I have clear recollections - as recent as the bank holiday weekend - of my father recalling the proselytising and pontificating of men of the cloth on the pulpit, getting all hot and bothered as they told the poor souls in the congregation about how they'll go to hell for sins of the flesh.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is calling for state lawmakers to eliminate the statute of limitations for child sex crimes, following the sentencing yesterday of former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert to 15 months in prison for making illegal cash withdrawals.
Hastert was accused trying to pay off a former student who claimed that Hastert molested him decades ago when Hastert was his high school wrestling coach.

A notorious paedophile priest in Australia has pleaded guilty to historical child sex offences on the eve of his trial.
On Wednesday, Vincent Gerard Ryan, 78, pleaded guilty to attempted homosexual intercourse with a male aged between 10 and 18, indecent assault on a male and gross indecency with a male under 18.

Cardinal George Pell’s claims to a royal commission to have been deceive­d and made victim of a cover-up by others in the Catholic Church about the activities of a pedophile priest have been direct­ly contradicted by the officials alleged­ly involved.

Three former Catholic Education Office Melbourne officials told the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse yesterday that they were in “shock”, “disappointed” and “angry” at the cardinal’s claims, which were “quite wrong”.

Minister takes stand in molestation trial

A minister accused of abusing a young member of his church presented his tearful version of the events that led to his arrest. Armando Bruno Morales, 56, of Washington is on trial on two counts of Class A felony child molesting and two counts of Class C felony child molesting in Daviess Superior Court.
The second day of testimony opened with Washington Detective Daniel Christie on the stand. Christie had testified about his investigation into the case that reportedly began in 2008 when the victim was 8 years old.
