Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley urged clergy Tuesday to reach out in
kindness and lead by example to cultivate a strong sense of unity in the
Catholic community. Speaking at this year’s Chrism Mass, O’Malley said people can forge meaningful bonds through their actions toward one another.
“Hospitality is about building relationships and forming community,” said O’Malley, spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. “In our parishes, hospitality must be contagious, and it should begin with the open welcoming spirit of the clergy, who teach more by example and witness than by words.”
