At the bottom of page 12 in May 11 editions, is a tiny article
about a 10-year-old girl in Paraguay who was raped and impregnated by
her stepfather. He has since been apprehended and will face charges.
Why wasn't this worthy of greater attention? Was the child too young, too brown, too foreign or too isolated? Perhaps her rape and resulting pregnancy wasn't sensational enough. They say the pregnancy is too advanced for an abortion and that under the laws of that very Catholic country, she does not meet the criteria for abortion.
Is that the child's fault?
