A royal commission investigating sexual abuse in Australia has
demanded nearly 2,000 files from the Catholic Church Insurance group
(CCI), and said that the files must be delivered within a week.
The royal commission issued a subpoena for relevant documents in February, and CCI officials initially said that it would take several weeks to collect them. However, CCI now says that 1,960 files have been identified as relevant to the inquiry. Since some contain hundreds of pages, CCI says, it would be difficult to deliver them soon.
