A child sex offender register is to be created, despite the
Attorney-General finding it breaches the Bill of Rights and creates the
possibil But Social Development Minister Anne Tolley says in some cases, she’s okay with people’s rights being breached.
Ms Tolley’s bill will require
all child sex offenders to register their address every 12 months if
they were 18 or over when the offence was committed and were sentenced
to prison. They will have to provide a
range of information to the police and the information can be shared
between the Ministry of Social Development, Housing New Zealand and
other government departments.
