Child victims partly to blame in priest sex-abuse cases, Syracuse bishop testified

they are so so.... I have not any words to say... about this so called man of god... we were thrashed... into doing every single thing... that these so called man and women of god... told us to do... if we did not do it... we would not see the light of day... because we would be out cold... after they had thrashed us... within an inch of our lives... if we did not obey every single word... or action... that these man and women of god wanted us to do... we were disobeying god as well... and that was the worse crime... us children could ever make... it meant that we would end up in hell... they had shown us pictures of hell and the devil... who had pitch forks with babies... and children on the ends of them... and that was what was going to happen to us wee children... we were so scared to even breath... encase the devil would hear us... and take us away there and then...

FEAR... was the worst thing which was forced onto me... it leaves you numb.... it leaves you lifeless... it leaves you without a mind of your own... it leave you without trust for another person... even children your own age... it leaves you without a soul... it leaves you without a heart... it leaves you without all feelings... it leaves you hopelessly lost... within yourself... frightened to come forward... or to stand up for yourself... and you carry this fear within you... for the rest of your life...

Don't they know that child abuse... and child rape... destroys a child mind... it wrecked every inch of me... that I do not trust any one... Ann.

The victims of child-molesting priests are partly to blame for their own abuse, the bishop of Syracuse said in a sworn deposition that revealed his views on the church's sex abuse scandal.

Bishop Robert Cunningham testified in a 2011 deposition in response to a federal lawsuit filed by a man who said a priest in the Syracuse diocese sexually abused him as a child.
