Talking about sex abuse, especially of children, is tough. People
come up to Foothills Alliance tables at festivals and conventions. But
when executive director Tracy Bowie explains the group’s mission, the
visitors often slink away.
“Sexual assault is such a taboo topic, people just don’t want to talk about it, don’t want to hear about,” Bowie said. More than 300 children, 17 or younger, from Anderson County get help every year from Foothills Alliance, which is based in Anderson and operates in Oconee County as well.
