A former priest from Kingsport convicted of sexually abusing a child
in his congregation three decades ago lost his latest legal fight
Friday. William Casey was in Sullivan County Criminal Court trying to
convince a judge to force the District Attorney General’s Office to
recuse itself from his case.
A judge denied that request Friday. Four years ago, a jury convicted Casey of rape and sexual misconduct involving a child over the period of 5 years during his time as priest at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Kingsport. Casey is serving a 35 to 40 year prison sentence.
