Grandparents blessed with watching their grandchildren grow
into today's world can't help drawing comparisons to their own
childhoods. It's a different world today. Or at least we see it
differently. In the 1950s, America seemed safe. World War II had ended
with a decisive victory for the good guys.

of both parties liked Dwight D. Eisenhower. Home ownership and
education were attainable for many under the GI Bill, Retooling wartime

of kids and were safe places for play. We looked up to leaders and
people in positions of authority.
