From 1996 to 2007 he was a member of the Bishops Conference and
Catholic Religious Australia National Committee for Professional
Standards. Through the same period he was a member of the board of
Encompass, which was a treatment facility for male priests and
religious, that was expanded to cater for men and women religious who
needed to undergo psychological treatment.
