The private institutions who employed and protected predators can be
held accountable. Once that is done, we can work together with lawmakers
to tackle the host of problems in writing a bill to address sexual
abuse in our public institutions. The Catholic Church and other
detractors should no longer fight statute of limitation reform. Cardinal
Dolan’s victim compensation plan is short on transparency and details.
The only way that victims and the public can be sure that all predators
are exposed is to hold predators and the private institutions that
employ them accountable in the tried-and-true civil justice system.
