of Sydney and now resident in Rome, is Australia’s most senior prelate.
Known for his orthodoxy and direct speaking, Pell has become the center
of an increasingly strident media storm in Australia, related to the
child sexual abuse crisis. Australian police now hint that they have
enough evidence to charge Pell with acts of sexual abuse—yet they have
failed to do so.
