The Church of England has come under fire for refusing to do away with the secrecy of the sacrament of the confession after claims that it has covered up the sex abuse acts of some of its ministers.
Vicars who hear confessions about a serious crime hold back from telling the police what they have learned because of ancient laws governing the privacy of the sacrament. However, senior figures have been pushing clergy to scrap the secrecy in light of claims that the Church of England repeatedly covered up sex abuse acts done by ministers, The Daily Mail detailed.
