Between the ages of nine and 11 my husband was molested by a podiatrist who his parents had taken him to see to treat his flat feet. By the time we'd met in our 20s, he'd barely told a soul. Instead he put it into the "dark corners or recesses" of his brain, as the former choir boy told the jury in the case against Cardinal George Pell as to why he didn't report his abuse for years. He was in shock.
