The Royal
- Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has announced that its much-anticipated public hearing at Ballarat, commencing on Tuesday 19 May, will focus exclusively on institutions operated under the auspice of the Catholic Church.
While the Commission has held private hearings in Ballarat prior to now, this will be the first time that evidence will be open to the public and covered directly by the media. It also marks the first of a round of hearings to be scheduled in regional cities across Australia.
