Timeline
2005: The agreement-in-principle is signed between the federal government, survivors and church organizations.
Sept. 19, 2007:
The Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement is formally signed
and enacted. The agreement will lead to the creation of two separate
bodies: the Independent Assessment Process, responsible for
administering claims, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
