Nuns would savagely punish us for the slightest thing, WE WOULD BE LAID over a bed in the dormitory or just spread-eagled BY three or 4 people (other older boys); if four was notenough to subdue you they would get some more boys to hold you down,
then flogged you with their thick leather straps which were shoved in
there long pockets of there habits.
Welfare INSPECTORS would visit the orphanage from time to time, children who were still bruised or scarred were kept out of sight. We knew what would happen to us if we told. Fear AND INTIMIDATION was a deterrent to us all.
