Editorial: Pope's words will pack a punch

Last week the big news from the Vatican was Pope Francis' encyclical on the environment, "Laudato Si," or "Praise Be," that basically condemns human beings' thoughtless exploitation of the environment leading to climate change and its destructive forces that usually affect the poor the most.
He maintained that it was every world citizen's responsibility to reduce the human carbon footprint including politicians who make laws that should be designed to protect the environment, not cater to companies that capitalize on it with no regard for future generations.
