You really have to wonder how big a scandal needs to be before an Irish government decides to do the right thing and investigate the matter. The latest revelations — that the Government was informed by the Adoption Authority of Ireland (AAI) almost two years ago that there “may be thousands” of cases where people had their birth history falsified so they could be illegally adopted — poses a very simple question: Why was this not investigated?
