So many still can not... come forward... because of the shame and blame... they still feel inside...

Why So Many Lies?

Adoption was considered the answer-all for unwelcome babies born out-of-wedlock in Ireland. I can only speak of the early 50s, where a young girl carries a baby inside of her for nine months, then when it is time, she gives birth, usually after a difficult delivery, (because she has not ever been seen by a doctor or worked at hard labor during her entire pregnancy) the child is taken from her, or perhaps she cares for it for nine days, nine weeks, maybe even nine months
One day she goes to tend to her baby, the baby is gone, no notice, no acknowledgement, papers signed, everything over, but why? Perhaps sold, or bought by an American family who wanted to add to their family, couldn’t get pregnant, or had lost a child? (Don’t get me wrong these are all justifiable reasons for adoption.)
