Father Paul Moore, who has never faced a court, admits
giving the man a cheque for the sum but insists it was a loan and not
money to keep quiet. A priest who allegedly abused a child in an Irvine primary school has denied giving one of his accusers £10,000 to keep quiet.
Father Paul Moore has admitted giving an alleged victim a cheque in 2009 but told BBC investigators the money was a loan. Fr Moore was also recently accused of abusing a former pupil at St Mark’s Primary in Irvine. It is claimed the former Castlepark priest, 79, confessed to his bishop in the 1990s that he had abused children over several year. But prosecutors decided not to put him on trial.
