Most productions of Doubt are straight shooters. The set
usually evokes the time and place, a 1960s Roman Catholic school in the
Bronx, but leaves the heavy lifting to the show's quartet of actors.
That's always been important, as the play's story about potential abuse
by a priest has needed that grounding to completely work.
New Epic director Joseph Stodola turns that on its head, offering a production that evokes the rituals of the Catholic Church.
