A former school principal who sexually assaulted his pupils 35 years ago says he is "obsessed" with keeping himself and the community safe.
Linton man Paul Roger Herrick was released on parole in January after satisfying the Parole Board he was not an undue risk.
He was jailed in late-2016 for sexual offending against seven children during his time as a teacher and principal at Awamoa School, south of Oamaru. That offending took place between 1980 and 1983, and he managed to cover it up through various means, including threatening his victims' siblings.
