Paterson sculptor Bill Cummins creates Star of Hope sculpture for victims of abuse

If you talk to victims of abuse, most would describe feeling alone with no one to turn to. It’s a feeling all too familiar for Paterson’s Bill Cummins, who suffered physical and psychological abuse at the hands of the Catholic church. Beaten and verbally abused by his headmistress from the age of 4 and even pushed down a set of stairs by a teacher at his Marist Brothers school, almost 60 years later Bill is still dealing with the horrific memories from his childhood.
