Early Sunday morning, before the 10:30 a.m. Mass, I sat down with my Sunday paper and read yet again about the scandal that just keeps giving — from sordid headlines to late-night jokes to massive mistrust among the faithful.
And as I read these stories and editorials about the latest pedophilic priest cover-up in the Catholic Church — this one involving over 300 Pennsylvania clergy and 1,000 victims in a 70-year period according to a grand jury report in that state — I wondered if the priest would mention the scandal in the service I was about to attend.
